205 Cline Park Drive Hildebran, NC 28637 (828) 397 4400 [email protected] www.marves.com Marves Industries of Hildebran, NC, began manufacturing nonwovens in 2009. The company currently has airlay and croslapping needlepunch web forming capabilities, as well as powder coating, laminating, die cutting, molding and assembly processes. Marves was founded as a collaboration between Mexico’s Marves S.A. and textile expert Elias Gomez, who serves as president. The initial investment was a refurbishment of existing equipment to make nedlepunched and highloft nonwovens for bedding and furniture cushion. When the Hildebran facility, which was formerly owned by Bauer Industries, became available prior to the company’s launch, the founders saw it as an opportunity for them to be independent and take their combined lifelong experience in the automotives industry to serve other markets in nonwovens. In addition to automotives, the company’s key markets are furniture, bedding, green roofing, and thermal packaging/cushioning. “These markets, especially automotive, continue to expand with more facilities being opened in North America allowing us to service more customers,” says Elias Gomez, president, Marves Industries. As part of the company’s plans to expand its offerings, Marves is currently focused on providing green solutions that perform at the same level as its existing products. It is accomplishing this by creating solutions based on sustainable and recycled synthetic materials, such as cotton, Kenaf, PLA and a polyester fiber that is spun from recycled bottles. Gomez adds: “Additionally, we strive to incorporate lean manufacturing and 5S principles in our processes as much as possible. For example, we just implemented an in-house recycling program and we are briquetting our textile waste in order to reduce landfill waste space.” Other ways in which the company offers a greener profile is that it manufactures absorbent products that are used in oil, chemical and hazardous waste cleanup. Additionally, it supplies green roofing materials to help retain water from runoff and maintain plant growth. As part of the company’s evolution, Marves has invested in new technology. Most recently the company added a new part to its airlay line that allows it to laminate both sides of the nonwoven material at the same time. Gomez says this process can be used across all markets for many different purposes. “It saves time and money, but also combines the values of different materials allowing us to meet more of our customers’ needs.” In addition to its management team’s years of experience and its key location in the Carolinas, the customer and performance-driven company has low overhead cost, is transparent, flexible, and continues to see opportunities in the nonwovens industry. “Nonwovens is a growing industry and there are still many untapped markets, such as medical and biodegradable products, making this the perfect time to be involved.” “Nonwovens is a growing industry and there are still many untapped markets, such as medical and biodegradable products, making this the perfect time to be involved.”
